Obituary for Lanny Ross Salmon

Lanny Ross Salmon (Nov 20 1941- July 19 2023)
Lanny entered into heaven on Wednesday July 19 2023 at the Hamilton General Hospital. Beloved husband of Marie (Parker) for 55 years. Loving father of Garth Salmon (Nancy Melaney) and Marla Iyer (Vikram). He will be missed by his grandchildren Cody Melaney (Blayre), Alexis and Cassidy Salmon, Maverick, Parker, Luke, and Archie Iyer. Great grandfather to Sloane Melaney. Predeceased by his parents Leslie and Elsie (Sheldrick) Salmon, his sister Elaine (late Edwin) Massie. Brother-in-law of Ross (Diane) Parker, Joan (late Peter) Emery and Brent
(Wendy) Parker and uncle of many nieces and nephews. Survived by his mother-in-law Lois Parker. Lanny was a 32nd degree Mason and member of St Andrew’s Lodge #62 as well as Caledonia Chapter. He was a life member of the Caledonia Men’s Club. After retiring as a maintenance foreman with the Wentworth County School Board, Lanny spent many hours in his woodshop. It seemed as if there were always friends in the shop with him working on various projects. This led to many coffee breaks and much conversation. The jury is out whether they spent more time drinking coffee or actually working! Lanny will be greatly missed by his woodworking friends and coffee buddies. Over the years, Lanny was also involved in many community activities from volunteer firefighting to the
masonic library to church endeavours. He was quick to lend a hand with his carpentry skills whenever needed and never shied away from giving you his opinion! He had a generous heart that in the end just needed a rest. Donations can be made to Grace United Church Caledonia, a food bank of your choice, or the Scottish Rite
