Obituary for Joanne Grant (Wrathall)

Grant, Joanne (nee Wrathall)
Peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 27 at the Juravinski Hospital after a brief illness with her daughter by her side. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 52 years Rickie (Rick) and children Kim (Al) and Tim. She was an amazing grandmother to Dakota and Alyssa and rarely missed a hockey, soccer, or baseball game. She is also survived by her brother Gary, sister-in-law Judy, niece Kerri (Chris), great nieces Katie and Emily and nephew Josh, and many other family and friends. Joanne had a big heart and was always helping out any way she could. She was the former president of the Caledonia Figure Skating Club and spent countless hours ushering trunk loads of skates to be sharpened or sewing competition dresses and carnival costumes. Joanne was a big fan of the Caledonia Corvairs Hockey Club and could be found selling 50/50 tickets in the front lobby during Friday night games in “the old barn”. For the last several years she enjoyed volunteering with the Caledonia Fair and was presented with the OAAS Meritorious Service Award in 2016. We would like to thank our friends and family for all their support over the last few weeks and to the incredible staff of 3C at Juravinski Hospital for their exceptional care. Cremation has taken place. As per Joanne’s wishes, family and friends are welcome to attend an Open House celebrating her life on Saturday, April 9, 2022 in the Mutual Room of the Riverside Exhibition Centre at the Caledonia Fairgrounds between 2 pm an 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
