Obituary for Closson Lloyd "Ducky" Drake

DRAKE, Closson Lloyd "Ducky"
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of Closson “Ducky” Drake announce his peaceful passing at home surrounded by family and friends on Friday, the 20th of January 2023.  Ducky was in his 87th year,
born in St. George, ON, and was considered by many to be the reeve of Caledonia. He is survived by his beloved best friend and wife of 39 years, Ginny. Duck was a father of five and proud Papa of nine, as well as a loving
brother. He loved playing hockey (less the back checking), as well as golfing, which he did until recently. Duck was a precise craftsman and taught his trade at Hagersville Secondary School for 31 years, was a volunteer firefighter
and a friend to all he met. Duck and Maggie loved visiting their neighbours from his garage. He will be fondly remembered for his unique sense of humour, loyal friendship, and the straightforward way he told you what you needed to know, not what you wanted to hear. Duck’s arrangements have been entrusted to MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, Caledonia. Donations may be made in Ducky's memory to CNIB guide dogs. As Duck wished, a memorial service will not be held. The family would like to thank their Dunrobin Drive Village as well as Palliative Nurse Melanie Lees, Dr. Gunning, Dr. Phillips, and his PSW Barb for their steadfast support.
Ducky, your wings were ready but our hearts were not.
