HUITEMA, Catharine
After a wonderful, full life of 98 years, passed away peacefully at Edgewater Gardens in Dunnville on
Saturday, April 23, 2022. Predeceased by her husband Age (August) 1999 and son Ted (2006). Dear mother
and mother-in-law of Nick (Cindy), Jack (Irene), Imelda, Jim (Kim), Joanne (Walter), and Cathy. Loving Oma to
Sarah (Stephen), Steven (Amy), Jeremiah (Melissa), Peter (Christine), Stephanie (Jake), Nicole, Charlotte,
John, Jason (Christine), Andrew, Joseph (Julie), Teresa, Leanne, Caitlin, Declan, Coeli, Bethany (2016) and Dylan. Great-grandmother to Wesley, Alexis, Travis, Moriah, Keegan, Andrew, Olivia, Matthew and Moira. Predeceased by her brother and
five sisters. Will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland. Born in Alkmaar,
Holland in 1923, Mom and Dad married in Oct 1954 and then boarded a ship to Canada to live in Canfield, Ontario.
Together they built a farm and raised a family. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen's CWL for 65 years. She will be remembered for her green thumb, knowledge of all sorts of hand crafts and her clever skill at Scrabble (even though English wasn’t her first language). Friends are invited to call at the MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, CALEDONIA, on Wednesday April 27, 2022. 6 - 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Stephen’s Church, Cayuga, on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment St. Stephen’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Stephen’s CWL or Haldimand Community Living would be appreciated.
