Bates, Barbara “Joan”
Entered into rest on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe, in her 90th year. Beloved wife of the late Warren Bates. Loving mother to William “Bill,” John (Kelly) and Judith Ann. Joan was a loving grandmother to Allan, Holly (Johnny), Matthew, Jeffrey, and Corey. She leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Lucas, Carrie, Dimitri, Liam, Chloe, Peyton, and Maddyn. Joan was an expert gardener with a knack for fine arts and writing. She loved animals, especially her cherished cat, “Nike.” Anyone lucky enough to be her pen pal had difficulty keeping up with her quick and interesting letter replies. Her many friends and customers from the Bates Farm Market will remember her fondly. Special thanks to the dedicated nurses and staff at the Norfolk General Hospital for their outstanding care. A celebration of life will take place in the spring. Visitation will occur in the MILLER FUNERAL CHAPEL, Caledonia, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 2p.m - 4 p.m.
